Plasvacc has the ability to supply whole blood as a special order product for your emergency transfusion or surgical needs. All of our donors have been blood typed, so you may request a specific blood type. We can provide you with Red Blood Cells for long or short term storage. Whole blood is collected with anticoagulant and then the majority of plasma is removed using a sterile technique.
For long term storage, a preservative is then added to keep the RBC's viable. This process enables you to store the long term RBC's at 4 degrees C for up to 42 days. One unit is approximately 1750ml and the resulting PCV is usually 55 - 75%. In order to provide you with the freshest product possible, we only collect RBC's upon request. Please place your order on Monday to ensure delivery that same week.
